Anyone else encountered this? - was getting an odd vibration/rattle at tick over, slightly audible in car but a loud rattle outside as if there was a stone behind a heat shield or similar.
Just taken a look and the rear (right) exhaust is the problem - it is still suspended from its rubber mount but the join between it and the central section - it seems as if the two simply slot together? - has loosened and the rear section is therefore rotating freely around the central section pipe and therefore getting out of allignment & vibrating against the bodywork!
Anyone know if/how the 2 pipe sections are meant to be sealed together - there is no sign of a clamp on the left exhaust, so I reckon they must use some form of heat seal at the factory? Suggestions to fix? - is it a warranty job or a quick visit to an exhaust specialist; just seems rather poor quality to fail at 1 yr old!

Just had the exact same fault. Cracked at what looks like sleeve fit no clamp I think it probably been an interference fit at the factory. Local dealer wants to weld the unit back together. Told them I’m not happy with this solution as the car is still under warranty and any welding I believe would only result in putting more stress into the unit for it to fail again sometime in the future. They have agreed to contact L/R regarding replacement. Waiting on answer.

Had one in like this too. Replaced the exhuast.
Welding is not a recognised LR repair.
Might be worth pointing your dealer to

Not sure if this covers your concern though.

Dealer has now confirmed that they will replace the exhaust system under warranty. No gnashing of teeth etc just good customer service. Big change in this dealers response since the service manager left some time ago.................!!!! Get the car back tomorrow.

Hello,
Just noticed this fault on my 6 month old D4. Rattle from the drivers side rear section of exhaust and more of the tail pipe visible below the back of the car than usual. Had a look underneath the car and as previously reported rear section still attached by hangers and rubbers, but rear section of pipe no longer properly secured to the centre section.
I'll be off to the dealers in the morning - good to know i should expect a replacement and not a "bodged" repair.
(Thanks for previous posts - it is always good to know you are not alone)
Best regards,
Dean

Had this on a customers D4 recently. Was in for a service and rattle from exhaust. Noise was coming from the centre silencer, so the car was run into the local dealer. Replaced the whole rear section of exhaust under warranty My D3 Build Thread

Had this issue too.
When standing outside with vehicle on tickover, it sounded like a low rest cycle on swmbo's washing machine.
Dealer replaced rear NS exhaust ( under warranty) so now washing machine free. ...... always on the road less travelled 🚧

Bit of a surprise this given that Disco exhausts seem to last forever (well, relatively). Hope they are not changing to inferior components.Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948

Currently sitting in dealers while they remove the flappy bit, then they'll replace the part not weld. I'd expected this to be a bit more of a battle!
