Hello all,
first a quick hello as a new member from the FFRR club. I've been racking my brains and heart (and off my fiancee) over our next car as I couldnt decide between a new Discovery or FFRR but decided on the former.
I'm just about to call a couple of dealers on Monday for quotes on an Orkney Grey HSE or heavily specc'd XS model, but wanted to get advice from all the experienced owners on this forum.
What sort of discount/deal should I be holding out for and what sort of options am I better off ordering now and which ones are better to get after market (any useful contacts on this forum will be very appreciated).
This car has dreams to end up in Kenya in 2 Years time so I will also be making changes accordingly closer to the time.
Any thoughts and advice very welcome.
thanks everyone for making a believer of LR out of me!!

Hello! Although this is coming from a newbie too. I'd say orkney grey is one of the best colours to go for in terms of desirability - looks damn good doesn't it! I've been told HSE's tend to hold their value quite well given that you're looking at a luxury vehicle at this point - either way, 7% is a typical discount you should aim for from looking on here.

Welcome to the forum, can't offer advice on D4 but others will be along soon, enjoy whatever you get. Displaced Yorkshireman.

SDV6 Auto obviously, Loire blue/Ebony, ugly kid glass, RLD wheel protector, private plate and maybe side steps.

Having just ordered a fairly heavily specced XS (still not sure whether I should have bitten the bullet and gone HSE, but as I wanted privacy glass and towbar I'd have been adding things to the HSE as well) I think 7% should be achievable (that's what I've got anyway!).

Had a sit in an HSE luxury today - very, very nice. What colour did you go for?

Thanks all. 8% sounds quite good.
I've been reading through about certain users getting the cubby box fitted later. Is it better / cheaper than the factory fit cooler box?
The other options take it close to HSE spec minus the interior mood lighting, sunroof and 4x4 info screen but still make a saving of about 4k.
I don't think I am too worried about resale as I try to keep my cars to the end so does the HSE still make sense?

If you're getting a new xs it'll have voice control and 4x4 info screen - they come with the premium nav and the MY13 has that on the XS.

Thanks Andy. I thought the premium nav on the XS was an expensive option but this is better news. Does anyone know if the upgraded sound system also makes a big difference?

It's not absolutely clear on the price list, but the premium nav (not the premium stereo) is standard on the xs now.

End of March delivery? Nice one - I've been told May for mine (which isn't disastrous as I can get through the winter in my XC60 then have the Discovery ready for the summer).
