The eBay unit is "multi vehicle" so will work on multiple D3/LR3 VIN #s - that's why its so pricey. Unless you're in the business of fixing other folks rides, the usual purchase is a single vehicle license which BBS will let you upgrade/swap if you change your vehicle for a nominal fee I believe.

There has, and as long as i am concerned, will never ever be anything in the market place to ever compete with the MSV-2 and it's capabilities.
It's capabilities for individual owners licensing it only in SV mode has always been astounding, but with an MV License, many have made good businesses and money with it.

BBS - This begs the question can someone who is congenitally impaired, in matters mechanical and software, operate this remarkable piece of kit in sv mode ?

I once bricked my iPhone for a while when playing with a jailbreak or some other software "upgrade". This is a 6000lb iPhone....so diving in at the deep end without trying the simple stuff like reading fault codes and some minor modifications might not be wise. Of course if you're an adrenaline junkie then have at it

Hiya StornowayStu
Quote:what's the upgrade cost from SV to MV
As many start with SV so they get to know the system and it's capabilities before upgrading to MV, so we provide a no penalty upgrade path. This means that we discount the entire cost of the SV license off the cost of the MV one
D3 / LR3 SV license = $705.96
D3 / LR3 MV license = $1,942.44
D3 / LR3 SV to MV Upgrade = $1236.48
Whenever you get into 4 figures things sound serious, but it does not take many jobs to recuperate this cost and in the end, resale values of such equipment are also typically 4 figure.
While we can swap SV licenses to other cars, even different models, which we offer to do quite inexpensively, we cannot do this with MV licences.
Lefrog,
Using the system is utter simplicity, if you can browse the internet then you can easily use this.
There are even options to modify the fonts, sizes, menu hand, colors and many other things that some owners will probably never have discovered.
In terms of what you use it to do, there simply is no limit, but as stornowaystu says, just take it easy and go a bit at a time, and move forward as your experience, confidence and understanding grows.
Quote:i had no idea it could get that exciting
It is quite surprising how addictive it can be. The equipment provides a porthole that allows you to see a whole new world of things going on in your vehicle you would have never imagined, Hence the Adrenaline Junkie comment is actually very accurate
BTW, for everything that can cause problems and in which you might possibly be able to mess anything up there are back up and save for restoring features you can use.
There is quite some technical element to initially setting the MSV-2 system up and licensing it, but despite having supplied this equipment to vast numbers of folks, some with almost no IT skills at all, everyone has managed this. Frankly the only ones that get into any trouble are typically the self proclaimed IT experts and the ones who have no trouble are typically those a little unsure and who take the time and trouble to read the information and follow the step by step instructions we provide.

Quote:the self proclaimed IT experts
We too only ever have trouble with customers that are "IT engineers"
Had done the other day who sent a back a fully working simple 3 button USB mouse cos he couldn't configure it
You always know it's coming when they boast that they are an "IT engineer"! To be frank if I couldn't set up a mouse I wouldn't be telling people that I'd got so much as a GSCE in IT!!
I can work a computer, but I'm no engineer and I managed just fine getting to grips with my Multi Vehicle MSV2 - it's just a case of taking the time to get to know how it works and what to expect of it and what it expects of you.
Just think logically before you act...
