good evening gentlemen,i am a new owner of a 2006 d3 se tdv6,noticed yesterday the rear discs were very hot. discs looked well worn so today stripped it down both calipers seized o/s slide pins ok n/s one pin seized, while changing discs noticed that the back plate on the o/s had rotted through on a 2006 car! ok 100k mls looking but for a car designed to go anywhere i was a little shocked, underneath seemed like quite a lot of surface corrosion is this normal? wondered if anyone else had had these faults.i like the car but getting a bit concerned, are the back plates available to buy? also i see on ebay manuals for sale but are parts manuals available? im confident of doing most jobs myself and by the look of it im going to be doing a affair bit but thanks to all the info here i feel a lot better any replies are gratefully recieved

Nick ("The Large One" on here) is your man for parts.
Some of us use this Russian site to lookup part numbers but I cannot vouch for its accuracy nor how up to date it is:

Speak to Nick - he'll sort you out.
Yes, the back plates can be bought. I think they're about £50 per side, though!
