The SDV6 has a number of extra horses and more torque. About a second and a half quicker to 60.
Physically, I believe the engines are near identical, with all the trick bits tweaked and enhanced to give the extra go.
The Land Rover website shows the difference in stats.

I think there are also physical differences in the manifold and injectors AKAIK.
So cannot be remapped to the same level as the SDV6 but can be improved. Remapping needs the physical chip bench programmed to enable a Bluefin unit to work (superchips) “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

Not in South Africa! Our 3.0 TDV6 and 3.0 SDV6 are apparently the exact same motor with all the trimmings giving the exact same power etc. Only a badge change.
We also only had the 3.0 Diesels on the Disco 4 here. Never a 2.7 version.

Ahh..., Yes. Sorry I forgot about the recently launched XS model with the de-tuned engine!!
The 2009/2010 D4 launch in RSA saw TDV6 and later SDV6 badging on the same engine 3.0 liter engine.

Like here before that you had D4s available with the 2.7L engine. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

In the UK, the model year does make a difference. The original and only badge was TDV6 with wither 3.0 or 2.7 depending on engine. Then around 2011 the 3.0l was rebadged SDV6 but had exactly the same output but, I seem to recall, was fitted with a particulate filter at that point. Then sone time later (can't quite recall but definately by MY12) it received a power hike too.
So the badge itself isn't too helpful!
