Compressor or something's else? |
|
So the diagnostic showed that my suspension fault is "slow to rise compressor" and the repairers are quoting $1300 for the new compressor. Is there another way? They think the compressor could be slowing burning out. Could LR rebuild kit do the trick and as well the dryer beads?
Bloody expensive these compressors, any suggestions????

Try a search - you can also remove and rebuild your compressor. There is a compressor rebuild kit, and then you can either buy a new canister with desiccant in it, renew the desiccant, or try microwaving your current desiccant.

Is easy to remove and use this rebuild kit? I'm handy with repairing and getting into things like this but im wondering if this out of my ablity or should be doable? Would it be better for the long run to get a new compressor or the rebuild kit should be sweet?

From comments on this site - the remove/rebuild job is supposed to take about 2 hours. The rebuild kit is a lot cheaper than throwing money at a new one. If you can spare the time off the road - it might be best to take the compressor off - and inspect it. If the piston/conrod is broken - the rebuild kit would be useless.
Here is a thread on replacing the compressor with the AMK model, which supersedes the Hitachi one. http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic84165.html?highlight=amk

does anyone know whats in the rebuild kit for the compressors? What am I actually rebuilding? Is all the air in the suspension going to bleed out when the compressor is disconnected? Thanks for your help jonsey.

Really! I looked at that and without freight it was already $600 au so prob after fed tax and freight $750 maybe. Those OEM compressors are quality are they? Don't need to download any software for them?

Got the brand new AMK compressor delivered 5 days from TLO (The Large One) on here... he was most helpful with organising it and was way cheaper than buying from local stealers.
Now to fit it myself.

Have you thought about changing the relay first?
