NFU wanted £800 to insure my standard D3 this year, despite only(!) charging about £450 for either of my modified Defenders. Rolling with laughter

Quick search on the web got it for £320 elsewhere. I'll keep the modifieds with NFU for the service and trust, but they do seem to be trying to price themselves out of the game each year.

I tried NFU a few times, but when I took polices out for D4 and FL2 last July, they were hundreds of pounds more expensive that LRI. yet the year before they were cheaper ; so an increase of about £300 on a D4, in 12 months Shocked

Was thinking of going with NFU this year, the quote they gave me was much cheaper than current company (Adrian Flux) but then they rang me to say they'd forgotten to tell me it didn't cover use 'off-road'.

Seems ridiculous that a company that grew out of insuring people that spend their entire career off-road won't insure the D4 for the use it was designed for. Also surprised that they forgot to tell me when I listed all the mods that it didn't occur to them that it would be used in the mud.

Have also had a quote from Aviva which was much cheaper than I expected for a modified car with a company that specialises in 'normal' cars.

Renewal due end of May so have a bit of time to shop around Laughing

The response I got was that they had already reduced the premium so they wouldn't consider any changes.

Rural postcode, full protected no-claims, no points and 42 year old Company Director and they want £600 for a 5 year old D3! Wife is 44 head gardener with same profile, £500 for a 3 year old 90. Absolutely bat-crappingly insane rates when LV quote just over £300 and AA £250.

But apparently the local service and lack of premium rate phone lines makes the extra cost worthwhile. Errr, no it doesn't.

You forgot the free parking in the centre of Dorchvegas.

Binned them two years back when the rates rocketed. £200 with Sheila's Wheels - I know the service will be commensurate with the premium paid, but I'm not keeping Jeremy in mustard cords & bath olivers.
