Service indicator,is it right |
|
My 59 plate D4 is showing 'service required'. It's done 13k since the last service which was the 16th July 2013. It never counted down to the service or gave me any warning, is it supposed to, the service book says so?
me off as it has not warned me and I have found out 6.30 tonight and I'm off to the alps for two weeks Saturday
How often is the D4 supposed to be serviced as my hand book says refer to service indicator in the vehicle. Does mine sound about right, 1 year and 13k?
Fitted a split charger and battery last night and disconnected and moved all the electrics in the spare battery compartment, seams a bit suspect or is the service indicator probably about right based on the above?

Thanks guys, sounds about right then
Do you think there will be issues now I have moved the sounder, and all the other gubbings in the spare battery box to get my battery in?
There ain't exactly much room in there, the sounder is bolted, but the silver box and black plastic box are basically wedged and are not going anywhere, but not actually 'fitted' CLUB DEFNER

About 2500-3000 miles, get back on the Friday then off to potnoddle so add another 600!
I always knew it about 1000 miles, after than if something went pop say bye bye to LR warranty. ( i got 2 years warranty) Bearing in mind my year old defender went pop in 2011 in the Pyrenees which resulted in LR putting us in hotel for 3 nights and flying us back to the uk, that whole episode plus getting defender back to the uk, hire of a D4 for 14 weeks, the repair bill plus compensation, cost LR about £10k.
Thus I am over cautious. Got the full benefit of the warranty and LR assist on that occasion to rather not give LR an excuse if something did go pop!
