Disappointed with Admiral Multicar renewal... |
|
I decided to put all our cars into one multicar policy last year, and was attracted by the apparent healthy discounts to do so.
Just got the renewal details, and to insure the D4, Defender, VW UP!, and Fiat 500 Twinair came through at £3157.51
Spent a day ringing round and getting various other quotes and managed to get all cars insured for total £2613
D4 with Land Rover insurance, Defender with Sureterm, VW with Esure, and Fiat with Priveledge.
The only car that has cost a bit more to insure by moving from Admiral is the VW, which has gone up because my son has moved out and now lives in Salford.
So, don't be fooled by thinking your getting a good deal, always pays to look around.

The first year is discounted as bait, they then work on the assumption that customers won't move back to separate policies. 06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti

Phone them and they will bring the premium down if you say you are thinking of changing. They quoted me £2800 for D3 , D2' Corsa and my sons Peugeot (under 21). They eventually brought the premium down D3 = £ 165, D2= £120, Corsa = £145 my sons Peugeot to £560 Total £890 and a big saving on the previous renewal quote and all vehicle are fully comp.
It does pay to give them a call and who the other persons on the other end knows their stuff. The Admiral call centre in Halifax , Nova Scotia are than Cardiff call centre.

They do this to me every year. You ring them back with quotes and they generally match it. It's a con designed to hammer loyal customers who can't be bothered to get new quotes annually. That said I have stuck with Admiral for 10 years and they've been pretty good apart from this annual waste of time. VIN: A175A328***

I've got 3 weeks until I need to commit, so yes I will call them and try and negotiate.

Are you getting "replacement car cover" under the new policies for cars less than 12 months old?

Just had this conversation about my bike insurance, broker (MCE) rings and says renewal is due on 2nd June, best renewal quote is £196 to continue my cover, I'd already done some looking for myself and countered with best I have found is £147 fully comp, they came back with £169 for 15 months cover.... with the same insurance company!!

I have separate GAP insurance on the D4 for that.
But doesn't that just give you back the orignal purchase price as per invoice and not a new car at todays price which may be more?
