Hi all. Wondering if anyone in a similar position or could give their opinion.
Got my 2010 D4 with 85000 on the clock which has been going great. It has not had a hard life but has been driven heaps. Obviously out of warranty and we did not think that the extended warranty was worth getting (I hope). So now, not sure wether to sell up before it reaches the 100km mark and get another? Or hold on to what has been a great car thus far?

Hold on, already paid the money and worse of depreciation over....and put some extra cash away for any potential future work

Thanks ieuan. That is what I would love to do. The car still feels brand new to me and would hate to see it gone. I take it you are talking from experience with the D3.

no experience with D3, but bought a few new cars in my time and have learned that if they work well and still do what they are supposed to do why sell?
Only had my D3 for a few months, but I know the costs of a New D4, and hurts my head just thinking about it......If all is well and you have all the kit in it, then besides that lovely new car smell what will you gain? (And you could spend some of the money you saved on some extra kit  )

Depends on your own financial position and how you buy your motor...I've had a couple of D3's from new and now a D4 and yet my monthly costs have barely changed in real terms ....go for the best you can afford ...you only live once  21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Take the car to the dealer and see how little it's worth as a trade. Then make up your mind. Make sure you're sitting down first

Funny that. The xc 60 is a possible replacement. I know it does not compare as a whole. But will cost less on the initial purchase price. What were the running costs like?

I was on a corporate service deal then,so that side was all taken care of. D5 engine was a bit agricultural and gearbox hated it around town(kept holding onto high gears) Urban it returned 10L/100km. Better on the hwy. I'm sure things have changed since then. Never gave us an ounce of trouble.
D4 I'm averaging 10.5 around town and average 10.85 over 9.2K which includes 3K with camper in tow.
