Post - Salisbury mud issues ........ bad damage to paintwork

Help!

I left all the mud on my car after the event and the car was sat on my drive.

Sadly, last night some local kids decided that it would be fun to write in it.

I now have scratches all over the bonnet and down both sides of the car.

What is the best way to go about polishing out these scratches - and no, a full respray is not an option!

Looking for best product and any advice on use on such a large area.

Thanks

Mark

Evil or Very Mad Little gits......

Agree with Dr D. Meguiars Scratch-X is the product you need (as do I, but in my case it's due to inadequate rinsing of the soapy brush)

About £8 a bottle.

Recommend you send Mini-Geldar out to earn his pocket money this weekend with a bottle of the stuff Thumbs Up Mr. Green

If you are going to get it muddy regularly I would just clean and wax it.
Leave polishing out until you sell.
I just leave the mud on as a protective layer. Whistle

Same thing happened to CarlS 110 in the car park at the George where we stayed, only thing is who ever did it used a stick. The car is now in a body shop having all 4 doors painted. Luckily for Carl he had rejected a previous paint job on the doors and they were going to be resprayed anyway.
In the Beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

Eeeeeek! Shocked

That would be the "Man Love" comment then? I got a pic of that on the Sunday morning and thought it rather chucklesome at the time. It's pretty abrasive stuff that clay, as I found when cleaning mine.

Hope the respray works out ok.

Sorry to hear that Mxg. That's why I was to be seen at 10.30 on Sunday evening washing my car with a pressure washer. I have gained a sctratch on the door, but nothing too bad. Polish will sort your paint I am sure. Silver cars are easier to clean.

The professionals would use a product called Farecla G3 rubbing compound. It is water soluble and can be used with a polishing machine or by hand. Once you have polished out the scratches, hose down the panels and then let them dry, once dry buff up the panel to a shine.

Unlucky mate - when I (FINALLY) get back home on Thursday night I am going to stick mine down the back of the drive each night out of harms way to make sure it doesn't get 'tampered' with before I clean it on Saturday morning.

Yeah I used this after last years' salisbury recce when I had my blue D3 and wandered (actually floowed TFC) into the 'Ox Drove' - a very bushy Rolling Eyes lane and came out with serious scratchs.

A quick straw poll...

... anyone else got any significant scratches as a result of last weekend?

A few on the RRS bumber taken the paint back to the black plastic. Will need a small tin of paint as I'm not going to get it resprayed.

No scratches here, I think having a good covering of wax on the car helps.
