Discovery 4 commercial ordered today
Hello all,
Ordered myself a discovery 4 commercial today, went for the commercial convenience pack, tow pack, exterior upgrade, leather and metallic santorini black.
The lead in time seems long.. End of march/early april. Is this normal for these vehicles?
Best wishes,
Russ

Nice one fella Lead in times are long due to very strong order books and that they are trying to build three differing vehicles on the same line 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

I am a little surprised you have to wait that long. They are building this on the same little island as you are on correct?
I ordered 1/8, building 1/31, factory complete 2/6, delivery (after a boat ride and transport to the middle of nowhere in the states, Iowa) by 3/12

Picked mine up a couple of weeks ago, it was second hand though, had done all of 86miles!
Chap I got it from had bought 2, kept 1 and sold one on..............makes me think I probably paid too much?!
I had been searching since October.................well worth the wait though.

Bear in mind that Commercials go to Special Vehicles to be converted - as such, they tend to batch them up so that they go down the line as a consolodated order.
In short, 4 months or so for a Commercial is about right - I ordered mine in Sept and got it in the last couple of days of Feb (I was tempted to wait for the reg change but felt that I'd hung on long enough!!!) and when I asked at the dealer in Dec was told that they had just ordered 4 vehicles which would be march deliveries.
I am working ahead so that I can get the next one ordered in the correct time frame... last time, I had a loan vehicle from LR to bridge the gap...D4 Commercial - 65 Plate, 2016MY
D5 Commercial - Handed back when I left that job…
D4 Commercial (2014MY) - gone
D4 Commercial SDV6 - Baltic Blue (also gone)
D1 300TDi... 2" lift, HD bumpers (both), detachable tow hitch, 9,500lb winch, 235/85/16 muds and plenty of other toys (gone to make way for the next toy...)
Smiles per Mile - Tornado Motorsports caged Evo 3... 100" Defender look-alike, with Range Rover running gear - all fully IVA'd and registered!

So, news has come through to me that my discovery commercial will not be with me until august now, having ordered mid January. Has any one else had this ridiculous set back?

Blimey that's awful. A worry for me too, as I've let my car go today on the understanding my D4 XS will be here before the end of May - don't want to be hiring a car for 4 months!
Did they give a reason?

I poked my online broker who said in his experience Commercials are almost always 6 months + because they're built as non-commercial and then converted, so in his view the original timescale was a bit unrealistic.
We'll see - I'm now trying to hire a car for 6 weeks!

I am also looking to order a commercial version but the long delivery date is really off putting. I have been looking for a nearly new (2011/12) in the second hand market for nearly a month but finding that the prices are almost same as that for a new one.
Not sure if they are 100% sure of delivery time but my local Land Rover dealer and a few online dealers are quoting a expected date of late July\Aug, which I have just about accepted but 6 months is way too long and if that is the case I will probably wait a few more weeks to see if anything decent comes up in second hand market, if not then will order a new one for a September delivery (Hopefully a 63 Plate).

Late July/Aug is c15 weeks - which seems to be the lead time for a non-Commercial factory order. If Commercial are built as a car then converted it would seem natural it's longer than the "normal" vehicle, so 5-6 months doesn't seem beyond the realms of possibility.

I've just ordered a replacement for my 10 plate D4 commercial TDV6 manual in Galway Green.
Gone for the convenience & luxury packs along with heated seats and Xenon lights in Firenze Red.
Had to extend the lease for 6 months which I think is optimistic!!
Still my green one is still making me smile so although looking forward to the SDV6 auto not in any rush.

Well Chaps,
Having ordered my disco in mid January, she was delivered on the 23rd of July, 3 days after my wedding whilst I was in sunny Crete! Typical! Great to come home to though, very pleased with the vehicle.
Have since added side bars, mudflaps, and a holland and holland drinks/gun cabinet in the rear. Not pleased I had to wait so long, but in fairness I turned 21 in the gap between order and delivery, and as such my insurance came down to a nearly sensible level..... Nearly...
