Torque converter Question

Quick question regarding a suspected dying torque converter..

I have recently experienced an intermittent small judder or vibration which seems to be symptomatic of a dying TC, however it is inconsistent and sometimes the car feels fine - other times its definitely noticeable. hard to say when its worse but certainly in the lower half of the rev range when it occurs.

The TC has done 170K, with two flushes in its life.

Does this sound like the TC starting to fail and if so how long will it go on like this before dying?

I plan to get a replacement in a week or so but need to drive it in the mean time - will this cause damage to the gear box??

Thanks!

M
