Totally taken by surprise
It's my 50th birthday today. I said that all I wanted was a lie in and a nice day out with the family. Not really amused then when my partner got up to make a cup of tea at 06:00. Next thing, the kids come in and say "come outside" there's been an accident. There in the driveway was a new 3.0 HSE in Silver!! We were thinking of saving up for one next year but not for my birthday.
This is not actually my car, but a demo from the garage on loan for 2 days. Mine was apparently ordered 2 months ago and comes in early June. The whole family, friends and neighbours were in the know and I had no clue. No wonder they kept asking me what colour I thought they looked best in.
So in June, I get the Zermatt silver with piano black interior, and remote pre-heater thingy and ipod connection.
Definitely the most lucky man in cornwall today.Thoroughly enjoying my landrovers in the southwest.

You are a lucky chap ...... You better check what the missus plans to buy too though Captain Nick Medhurst would ask:
"What is the first rule when overlanding?"
I would Reply:
"Duratrac"

What is it you are giving your wife for her 50th.....? You've got to top that now! A vaccine does not stop you catching a virus, or passing it on, or getting ill from it, really ill. It does reduce the likelyhood of you dying when really, really ill. Stay Alive - KEEP AWAY FROM PEOPLE.

Congrats and can I borrow your wife, just for the car purposes, unless she can cook more than PING food

Wow, with a wife like that I think you should work hard at staying married.
Congratulations,

Very good.
Without even trying, I have -
Purchased a 944S2 for wifey - on her birthday.
Replaced it 3yrs later for an RX8 - on her birthday.
Got the Disco3 for wifey..... on Valentines day.
Unfortunately, none of these took place without her knowledge, so no jaw-on-ground surprise moments.
I have no idea what I am going to do for her next "big" birthday though.....
