touch screens
I believe a few on the forum are using Lilliput touch screen set-ups, thinking about putting a small laptop in the glove box and running either a 7" or 8" touch screen on the dash. Any advice or tips?Club Exped trailer

Is it for the driver or navigator? I have a 7" fitted (to my wifes discust....) above the LR screen and it's very hard to read as the driver. Go for 8" min. Needs to be bigger really if looking at detail on OS maps but any bigger than 8" and it's blocks the windscreen to much. 8" prob fine for navigator as he can be closer to the screen, but saying that they might as well have the laptop on thier lap! (airbag off...). Difficult one..Off Roading is OK.... But I'd rather be Boating!

Cheers chaps, in reference to the screen size when your laning you tend to be going pretty slow so the occasional lean-forward-and-have-a gander would'nt bother me to much . Location is not a problem as I've got a low rent XS that does'nt have the in-built screen so it will sit there. I just wanted as much input as possible on this one from people that have used them extensively and know the short falls of the different options. I know Samsung do a tablet type laptop that will run almost any application its just the mounting options available could be tricky.Club Exped trailer

The Lilliput screen is a great bit of kit for the money, have no problem with that, easy to install and the touch screen worked first go! Also got video inputs for rear camera or DVD etc. Probably should try wearing my glasses more often..Off Roading is OK.... But I'd rather be Boating!

Beer googles are better. How much do you expect to pay for a lilliput screen? Widescreen or 4:3?Club Exped trailer

If you want it to fit in the LR satnav hole this is prob the one. If mounting elsewhere I'd look at a bigger one.Off Roading is OK.... But I'd rather be Boating!

I fitted a xenarc sreen in mine.

It required the cutting out of the plastic and foam lining of the cubby and some major surgury to the plastic behind.
It is nice and close to the driver so is easy to see.

and because it is retractable it is not so obvious to tea leaves.

Works well but make sure your graphics card will take 800x400. It will work otherwise but the aspect ratioo will be out.
It is solid as a rock on dirt tracks as well. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

Google this VGN-UX390N PC Notebook GPRS
I do work for a company that are a Samsung partner so I'll enquire about one tomorrow. I've read a few reviews on it and it may come up short in some areas but for what I want its probably spot on.Club Exped trailer
