Tow ball key

Snapped off one of my tow ball keys in the lock.... Grrrrr....

Managed to sort it though but need a new key, as I now only have one key left

Local locksmith can't cut one - is it a LR only thing - would quite like something stronger...

Dont think LR sell just the key ...

You can get a new lock and 2 keys for about £7 from LR

You have one key still, so yes quite easy. More difficult when you don't have a key...... But still doable. Thumbs Up

Try the new keys in your existing lock first, you might be surprised - thinking the same logic may apply as to FFRR wheel locks where there were/are only 8 combinations (certainly on the black RR lockers) Rolling Eyes

I had both keys missing and purchased a new barrel and keys from LR. It was less than £10. I was completely shocked at how easy it is to replace in less than 2 minutes. I now understand why there are so many towbars with new keys on Ebay!

In terms of purely convenience - is it possible and safe to use the tow ball without the lock?

(Safe as in will it fall off - not safe as in security)

Thanks,

John

Think so, it will fully latch then requires the key to be turned 180 before removal. Even less secure than the "fully locked" towball though... The other danger is that in use the bust key/lock could rotate away from the unlocked position due to vibration and sods law so then its locked on when you want to remove it Rolling Eyes
