Tow bar question

Hi folks

Have tried searching but can't find the answer. Got my d4 last weekend and it came with a fixed tow bar that I thought would allow me to move the towball up to the top set of holes as I need it higher for the camping trailer. However there doesn't appear to be room to get the bolts through on one side. Maybe I can't use the top holes, any advice appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I've absolutely no idea on that but is a longer tow ball and option?

The clean area on the plane suggests that the ball has been incorrectly fitted.
The plate should be secured to the vehicle by 4 countersunk headed bolts, not just the 2 shown

If you remove the plate and put the bolts in from the back the heads will fit. Probably easier to fit the ball to the plate before remounting the plate.

Ball mounting bolts are 16mm and the correct ones have a flanged head. All the nuts should have flanges and be of nylock or other self retaining type. Ideally they should only be used once so probably best to buy all new nuts as well as the 2 countersunk bolts. This is not going to be cheap.
There would probably not be sufficient room to fit conventional high tensile bolts with heavy washers.

I'm fairly sure that the countersunk bolts are also 16mm. 4 are needed because the countersunk heads don't provide as strong a fixing as the flanged ones.
