Hi,
think it will go back in
just
will be a pain to get back out again, as L319 has said, there is no internal shaft which is what withdraws the main pin
take it if you push in the "little" pin the main bolt shoots out just watch your fingers Transit! 2019

I would bin it. The tongue ,just being spring loaded , cannot be relied upon to hold it in position in use.

Land Rover check
I took my car in about 10 months ago for the tow bar check as it had never been done. I left the tow bar in the boot not fitted to the car.
The mechanic has a gauge that measures how much the knob turns when installed, I guess if you dont have a knob then they cannot check it.
Might be worth ringing LR dealer and asking the if your car has had the check done or not.Discovery 4 3.0 HSE 2010 year. I like it a lot. Now with winch 😂

dont see how he can "bung it back in" as all the internals are missing (the geared shaft, never mind not having the green locking handle)

My thought process was:
Buy new lock (£10?)
Put hitch with new lock back on
Go to LR dealer saying tow hitch is clunking a lot
See what happens.
Worse case senario, £10 wasted.
Best case senario, new adjustable hitch fitted foc.
Might be worth a try.

Good idea
BUT
there is nothing to attach the £10 lock to
there is no cross shaft which the lock goes on the end Transit! 2019

Having been in this same situation I can tell you that the parts you are missing aren’t available as spares except the lock. The lock back, shaft etc are all unavailable. The tow bar it’s self will be ok as it’s the car that wares as the hardened steel lock pin wares the soft chassis steel. LR fix was to weld and dress the slot. There was a addendum to the manual about the tow hitch explaining it was to be removed when not in use. This was because when there was no load on it, it would rattle and ware the slot.

I always wondered what the criteria was for the tow bar wear problem. M3Bobby has just enlightened me, but does anyone know what the limitation of the hole diameter should be before it's considered 'iffy'?
