Can anyone let me know if a fixed multi-height tow bar is better or worse than the removable type.
I have a multi-height on at the moment but was thinking of removing it and getting a removable one. I use it occasionally to tow an Ifor Williams box trailer BV106 usually at it's full load capacity.

define better or worse
They both have pros and cons, dependant upon what you're looking for.
I have the fixed multiheight one so that I can use my witter bike rack and have the caravan attached.
The removeable one looks neater, oh, and you can remove it when not in use
With regards towing, dont think either one gives any sort of noticeable difference.

My definition of "better" is that it's A) removable when i don't need it and B) is unobtrusive
So for me, the removable one works fine.

I use the removable one to tow my daughters horse box around, when i'm finished I pop it of and pack everything away, something less to damage if HID decides to reverse it in to anything

SWMBO keeps moaning about fixed bar as she has got grease off it twice now.
With my trailer it needs to be on highest setting and wondered if fixed will be the same height. It's more for
convenience to have removable one as I had 2" receiver type on my 90 and liked this option. Defender 300Tdi 110 HCP - Keswick Green

I changed to the multi height, purely because the removable hitch was too high for my twin axle trailer.
Yes to the grease on the keks.
Yes to the scrapes on the shins.

A quick look on the IFOR website and according to the trailer its loading height is 380mm so first I think you may be ok.
I'd even take a guess and say the chassie for my horse box and your trailer is the same

The fixed can affect your off road abilities with the angle on going up steep hills as it digs in. If you can make do with a removeable one then I guess that is the prettier option.

Quote:The answer may be within this thread http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic27141.html but to summarise, 400-450 appears to be the correct height for an Ifor horse box.
