Tow Trust TT1 Fixed Ball Height vs. LR Detachable
Hi all,
Searches bring up lots of info about TowTrust bars but not a specific answer to this:
Does the tow ball height of the fixed TT1 exactly match the height of the OEM LR detachable tow bar? I know it has two settings, but want to be sure one of them matches.
Edit: This would have to be with an alko tow ball fitted as I have an alko stabiliserD4 XS, gone, much loved, never forgotten

Just measured my TL1 which has an Alko ball on.
Excuse the parallax error on the photo, it is 15" to the centre of the ball. The upper holes are 2" higher.
I don't know about the LR fixed towbar, hopefully someone will.

That's perfect thanks. I can simply compare to mine
Was engine off or on at the time (i.e. suspension relaxed or not)?

It's been sat for the morning, although I'm fairly sure it doesn't move any. I'll happily go and run it, and measure again if you want. I could measure wheel centre to arch as well, to be sure we are running the same height. Richard

I'm 99% sure the towtrust is higher. I'm looking at getting a drop plate to take the ball down a bit because my twin axle trailer doesn't sit level.1995 Discovery 1 300TDI

Towtrust do a range of drop plates. Just need to check whether they are compatible or not.

To the centre of the ball the LR detachable is 400mm high.

Mine is about 380mm-ish. Which is great as I can get a TT1 bar with an alko ball and use the lower settings as rrhool has at the top
This was engine off, with suspension 'stood easy'

Even though I said that my old detachable was 400mm to the centre of the ball I've just measured my LR fixed towbar and it's 380mm to the centre of the ball with the engine off - tows my van just very slightly nose down which is how I like it MY12 D4 HSE Ipanema Sand

Seems 380mm is the magic number. I'm definitely on the lookout for a TT1 towbar now. I'm comfortable with the condition and safety of the detachable one, it's just a pain taking it on and off all the time to stop it corroding, and to prevent anyone else removing it on my behalf
I wanted to check the height is the same as I've got a nice perfectly level setup currently

Since then I've removed it to have it blasted and re painted as it did corrode pretty quickly. Other than that a good towbar which looks as tidy as you could expect.

Morning !
I am thinking of purchasing a fixed TowSure TL1 as i am towing more than i used to, so want a more sturdy option over the removable LR towbar im currently using.
Question.....will this screw up my reversing sensors in any way ?
