Grand Aero works fine with the clamps in the correct positions.A vaccine does not stop you catching a virus, or passing it on, or getting ill from it, really ill. It does reduce the likelyhood of you dying when really, really ill. Stay Alive - KEEP AWAY FROM PEOPLE.

you dont need the V clamps on the grand aeros, the flat one works fine, but you do need the inner tube rubber trick to stop the underside of the clamp sliding out

Yep, tried the V clamps and they make it worse
Leave the flat ones on and slice open a short length of bicycle inner tube to put along the top edge for the clamp to grip on.
The next discussion will be: top or bottom edge of the mirror?

On the D4 if you fit the mirrors on the bottom edge, when you lock the car the powerfold mirrors close in and the Aero fitting hits the door, so you have no choice other than to fit to the top of the MY16 mirrors.
On a D3 or D4 without powerfolds (or at least with auto lock powerfolds) then the towing mirror fits (and looks better) on the bottom edge, which was where mine always went until I got the MY16 D4.

The Milenco mirror does fit on the bottom of the door mirror. To do so I fitted it when the door mirror was in the folded position to ensure that the clamps didn't come into contact with the door. The clamps are relatively close together but the mirror seems more secure than when fitted to the top of the door mirror.
However, my main concern with the Milenco mirror is that because they are so sturdy they can do significant damage to the car if they becomes detached. I had mine clipped with a passing vehicle and ended up with several chips/dents to the paintwork. Unfortunately, the side of the car had to be resprayed at a cost of £600.
It is hard to understand why Land Rover should have chosen to change the design of the door mirror without having had any apparent regard to the need to fit towing mirrors.

it wasnt the clamps hitting the door when I tried fitting mine on the bottom, it was the end of the round bar that hit. If I move this out, the mirrors stuck too far out.

If you turn the part of the clamp that attaches to the bar 180 degrees so that they are in the upper rather than the lower position the bar does not foul on the door.

Hmm - think I need a pic to show that one, as if clamps are 180Deg, doesnt that mean they are in front of the mirror glass?
