Towing mirrors required
Evening all, can anyone recommend what type of extended towing mirrors will fit the D3 ?

Milenco Aero are good. I've got a pair and find them very steady and easy to fit. Get the flat lenses rather than convex.

Lots of them on Ebay. Just under £40 new but if you can wait and watch, you may be able to get a secondhand pair for less. I managed to get mine for less than £20.00 delivered.

I have the grand aero, just suits me more, they are similar to the d3's in size.

BTW, Milenco now do an "extended arm" that replaces the standard length for both Aero & Grand Aero for those with wider caravans

I use the extended arms on my Defender, its the only way I can get to see the actual sides of my caravan. Heres my Grand Aeros on standard arms...

Remember guys, there are TWO version of these Grand Aero, "flat" and "convex", me personally I would stick to "flat" as it gives a better representation on motorways

Correct. But they aren't very convex to be honest, almost like the flat version.
Its worth remembering that you need to be able to see the actual sides of your caravan to be legal..

I use Grand Aeros (only second trip out with them - first with the new car) and they're very good.
I can't see the sides, as in the photo above, but I can see along the sides of the 'van I can just see the lump where the wheelarch covers are and this gives me excellent rearward visibility.
Don't forget that there is a limit on how wide your mirrors can project - 20cm outside the width of the van, IIRC - basically the head of the mirror only.
I've got the convex ones - not 100% sure about them but they do give a good view which complements the flat glass on the car but it all comes down to personal preference.
I'm still using the original flat pads, too; I note that Milenco make a V-pad for fitting to the mirrors on the Freelander (I though they were the same as the Discos...?) but I don't know if I should upgrade. The original pads seem a suitable tight fit to me.
I can't believe people think they can get away without towing mirrors. In fact, I can't believe people get away with it, never mind thinking about it. Caravan = Towing Mirrors. Our Swift isn't the widest (2.3m which was, I know, the maximum at one time) but I wouldn't think of travelling without mirrors.

Just make sure the Grand Aeros are fastened on very very tightly. I lost one of mine on the A66 when a lorry blew it off coming in the opposite direction. They do stand proud

You can just make out on my photo where I have used a cable tie to secure my Millencos to my mirror arm. Not sure if this could be done on a Disco?1996 Defender 110 300tdi Bonatti Grey
