Towing or recovery.
I always carry my heavy duty strop just in case. So for my new Disco 3, what else do I need. The strop has a loop at each end, do I need d-rings for each end to connect to the Disco towing loops.
I do have a tow bar, so not so important at the rear.1955 SWB Series 1 86 inch

If being recovered much safer to use the recovery hoop at the rear rather than a tow bar. It's what the recovery hoop is for.
Plus any stretch in the strop? I've seen two recoveries first hand where fixed (non stretch) strops have been used and both didn't end well.

OK thanks for that info, I understand what you mean. So without seeing it, I gather that the recovery hoop is just that, a hoop. So sounds like I need a d-ring of sufficient strength to connect,
If strops are not the best, what would you suggest instead.1955 SWB Series 1 86 inch

Agreed your strop would need a suitable shackle. I use this type of recovery rope which has a degree of stretch and hooks for attachment.

Yeah, it's a hoop behind the bumper cover. It's part of the rear crossmember and is factory designed for recovery.
Get a good rated shackle to fit it and for your straps.
Flathead screwdriver will undo the 2 clips for the cover for you to have a look at and so you can get a size for a proper shackle.
The front is under trim bit and has a few more clips to undo. Most people fit a sump guard to protect the lower area and to give easy access to the front mount.
From 5 years of experience, they are both very strong and more than up to the job of dragging out other cars, or for attaching for when you need dragged out...

Yep, had 3 great Tunisian trips where much dragging of a certain member here out of the deep sand was had. All using the factory recovery points.
