towing with a Tesla

For the first time last week, I saw a Tesla model X towing a "normal" caravan (single axle Lunar I think, so possibly somewhere in the 12-1300Kg range).

Given the torque from electric motors, the battery weght, and 4 wheel drive an electric car ought to make a great towcar, but I wondered what his real range was when towing.

thats a big trailer, over 2000Kg, and a decent hill climb. Sounds like on our motorways with a lighter trailer 150miles could well be on.

How the hell would you get on a supercharger with a caravan on the back? You’d have to unhitch it.

Regarding cost - thats about bang on for a new vehicle these days somewhere between £700 and £1K seems to be the going rate for a Land Rover factory fit tow bar

Yup, same for Audi and Volvo.
I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

See some of the u tube videos regarding supercharging say it costs around 24p per KW which they say is an average around £12.00 per 80% charge

Also heard that the supercharging feature can be turned off by tesla if u work on it urself plus ie fit second hand parts , I also believe u can’t buy any parts direct from tesla , think that was the general consensus but of course don’t know if that’s true or not

The whole BEV thing is like a cult at the moment - propogated by the manufacturers but the forums are by far the worst place. There's a core of owners so "drunk" on the concept that they are saving the world that they cannot see the reality of ownership/infrastructure etc. yet.
I'm eagerly waiting for 5 years time when my Tesla owning mate is due to bury the defunct battery from his model S in his back garden to run his house. I've even offered to lend him a spade so he can follow the Tesla marketing pitch to the letter.

Plus I hope they’ve all checked that the charging points are from green energy suppliers Whistle

Isn’t a ‘million mile’ battery available in the very near future or is that more marketing cr*p?

Well the Tesla batteries will already do a million miles but as they get older its the intervals between charges that reduces. The original Marketing BS was an 85KW battery would degrade 10% over a reasonable 10 year life meaning it would be perfectly serviceable to run your hous for a week when buried in your back garden
