TPMS and winter tyres

How will the Tyre Pressure Monitoring System react if I put on a set of winterwheels without the sensors in?

Will I get a constant light on the dash or a kind reminder?
It seems it is quite complicated to change the ccf each time I change tyres.
And frankly the manual doesn t talk about this.....

Thanks for any help.

Geert

My understanding is that the Pre - 2008 vehicles can have the TPMS disabled by a dealer or indie shop. My D3 is a 2006 and I have it disabled as I now have two sets of tires, both without TPMS.

I see you have a 2008 so you're probably out of luck.

Any idea how they disable the TPMS?

Because as I understand my Indy can re-program the CCF but this doesn't look very practical in my view.

I'm not sure of the process for disabling the TPMS (toggle switch in software menu or complete reprogramming). When my Indy explained it to me he said that either 2008 and newer vehicles are unable to disable due to how they are manufactured OR illegal to disable the TMPS according to US law. (one or the other)

Talk to your Indy, if you don't want the amber TPMS light always ON you may have options.

I've done exactly that on my 2010 D4 ie put winter wheels without sensors on and the car simply states TPMS IN UNAVAILABLE. Then you click Ok Rolling Eyes

Yes that's right. Once you click Ok to accept that the TPMS is in active you get no fault light, but remember this is a D4 HSE not a D3 and I'm not sure if the D3 has a different TPMS system, but I believe they are the same.

Thanks. Worth checking before reflashing ccf anyway.

Cheers
