Did you have any issues with a previous trailer or do all of these issues stem from the new trailer with the led lights? I have an older LM106 if you wanted to hook your car to it and see if it’s all the trailer or if some of the issues are there whichever trailer.
PM me if that’s of interest ?

Nice one, thanks Nige.
Appreciate the offer but we also have a couple of other standard filament trailers that proves the vehicle is working as intended.
Only the new IWT and a borrowed BJT 310 (both with full LEDS) lamps are invisible to the car.
The car is driving them fine, no hyperflash/strobing or unexpected behaviour, just not detecting them as being connected to the car.
Thankfully on todays run it wasn’t fogged, but equally I was towing today with a regular bulb trailer!

I have MY16 D4 from new and supplied with a fixed tow bar.
When a trailer is connected it does not disconnect the PDC regardless of the type of light bulbs in the trailer.
The other quirk it has is to engage the PDC as soon as you put it into neutral.
Following on from your PDC note above here is a photo of the display showing the rear PDC disabled when trailer is connected:-
Note the text on the left advising rear PDC not available with trailer etc.
Mine does not display that message when a trailer is connected.
