I was stuck in traffic yesterday and when it moved off slowly decided to do the weekly "put in low box to keep mechanism from seizing" … and also switched it through special programmes to check they all light up as they should.
When I did the "off" to "sand gravel snow", the dash lit up with "trailer connected. Off road height not automatically selected" or similar.
as I didn't have a trailer, I tried to get it to repeat this message but it wouldn't.
what is making it think it has a trailer on ? or is it like my 300tdi that used to flash the "trailer" light on first flash of indicators then worked out there wasn't one there. .

Twice when I've done this, when putting it into low range its fine. Then when back into normal mode it flagged up gearbox fault - restart engine and all is fine. I'm guessing yours is female also.

Check the trailer lighting socket as when you plug your trailer lights in you get that message when selecting off road height. It might need cleaning up MY18 RRS Autobiography Fuji White

I had that when I first had the towing electrics installed. A re-programme sorted it and it hasn’t done it since.

I have had this a few times also, but intermittently. I can still put it in off-road height no problem; it just does not select that automatically. I tried changing the settings for the type of tow-bar electrics with the iid tool and thought it had cured it, but then it happened again the other week. I just live with it.
