Transfer of ownership

My 2nd hand IID tool arrived yesterday and registered on their website and paid for the transfer of ownership (£25). I almost immediately got an automated email telling me -

Hello Paul Marsden,

Thank you for your purchase.

In order to get your unlock code, simply proceed with instructions found in the transfer of ownership guide located here:

This is an automated email. If you need any help, feel free to reply to this email and we will reply within the next business day.

Which i did. But when i connect my tool to the laptop and phone it goes as far as the boot loader and then says
"This tool has been locked. Please enter your password to confirm your identity. Your access is valid only for the current session unless you check 'stay logged in'

It then gives me 2 boxes to fill in
The top one with the username is greyed out and cannot be altered from the current username (previous owner)
The bottom one allows me to enter my password (i have used the one on GAP website login)

when i do this it says "authentication failed" and takes me back to the password screen??

What am i doing wrong? Am i supposed to wait to get a code through from GAP as an email? Previous Discos

Had exactly the same thing with mine in the week, drop GAP an email with the authentication code and they will email you an unlock code... mine works fine now... I guess it will be Monday afternoon when they get back to you (being in Canada) but they are pretty quick with the unlock code. I want to see the sweets before I get into your windowless van... I'm not stupid!

Where do i get the authentication code? Maybe its just me being impatient

When you first plug the reader into the port there will be a 10 (I think) digit code shown, I took a picture of this on my phone and sent it to GAP in an email, not exactly sure which screen as I was (like you) a little confused at going round in circles

Thankyou. Sorted it in the end. Because the previous owner had locked it to his car he needed to contact GAP to authorise change of ownership. Once he had done that it allowed me on to the screen with the code so i could then email GAP and get the unlock code

I'm having the same issue but mines not been sorted yet dispite telling gap I bought a 2nd hand tool off of a forum member they keep telling me to follow the guide in red.....same issue says its locked to previous owner doh

Yeah I know I cant even get that I'd number up

It's working cheers to dave who got onto them and thanks to gap for getting it working. Seems I now need to purchase something else to programme and change stuff
