Check your brake light globes. If you replaced them recently get some better quality ones. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

Tried charging my battery with a fancy 7 stage charger and even that didn't help . Needed to replace it (under warranty) to solve the problem

Almost identical problem yesterday driving from Melbourne to Adelaide. Stopped for fuel just outside Melbourne; Had just finished telling SWMBO how brilliant and faultless the D3 was at 65000kms and turned ignition on and car started with "Trans fault Limited Gears available" and "Park Brake Fault" and a huge F (for F...ed" (?!) where gears number usually goes.
Taking on board eveything I have learned on this site I muttered SH_T and quickly turned the ignition off removed the key (said a little LR D3 prayer chant and apologised for saying outloud that I would really like a TDV8....) and reinserted the key and started the engine again......
Problem solved.
Drove 760 trouble free kilometres to Adelaide.

Hmmm.... what is the LR D3 chant? does it go something like the one I made up? " Sh%#, F%$#, Sh%#, Bugg*@, Cra#? We are having the Dalai Lama staying soon (don't tell the Chinese!!) so it may be a good one for him to do! I am of to the dealers tomorrow on a truck so I will let you know the outcome! sounds like browsers are a dangerous place to be with a D3! (and power stations as well according to the tow driver).

Hello Paul,
Ever had the alternator replaced? My alternator went in spectacular fashion and fried the battery on it's way out. Got every message under the sun and then nothing. Have a nice day!

I think the D3s alternator is vulnerable to water andd mud. They have made the D4 one more resistant so i understand. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

yeah the chant is full of praise for D3's etc - but I have amended the last bit about "being perfect with a TDV8 under the bonnet..etc" - that may have been cause of recent issues....or the alternator...! 2006 SE TDV6 with G4 Options ("A" Bar, Driving lights, expedition rack, ladder; fr & r light guards, side steps, G4 logos) door moulds; plus Long Ranger 115L sub-tank; OL rear wheel carrier; OL rear drawer system; Kenwood / Garmin Satellite Nav/bluetooth/iPod/rear camera/DVD); LR roof mounted DVD; GME 3440 UHF; Tyre Dog tyre monitoring system; Optima Yellow second battery and Traxide dual battery management system; Mitchell Bro's tow hitch;

I had this very issue with my Disco and Babagelo's in Perth finally traced it to a faulty rear bulb!!! not sure how the two were linked but they have fixed it under the warranty
They initially replaced the battery but then a week or so later the same issue returned and this time it was fixed for good.
That being said I have had the red battery light come on for about 5 seconds twice in the past two weeks, I will be keeping an eye on that.
Cheers,
Jim

This has happened to me twice. Both times a fault code of "low fuel pressure" was found. Fault cleared and all OK

Kenso - FWIW, I've had the "F" and "Limited gears available" message twice. Both occasions while offroad low range, doing some steep slopes. The last time was a very hot day (about 38C) on Bendethera FT. The previous time was in August at Hampton SF, after lunch (maybe latent heat?).
Anyhow LR "service" applied software updates to the auto box... or so they say.
I wish LR would just apply all the latest updates every time you put it in for service. Otherwise you just end up experiencing a faulty product and have to complain to get it fixed.
One more thing about LR... I wish they would send some test mules to the outback in summer. Preferably with their designers and a limited water supply. I bet we would see some action regarding heat-related issues - which the p*ms never have to contend with.
Cheers,
Rob
