How much is it send by truck/train empty anyway? And then how much to freight a pallet to Adelaide (I know - pain in the a**e)? Have you thought of employing a driver to drive it then fly them back?

why dont you find some trusty backpackers and let them drive it over for you?

A friend of mine had this guy in Adelaide gave him a week to take his car to Perth a few years back and he even paid him a few quid for the pleasure.

Okay so the car was probably full of drugs or something but it was a great deal all the same.

failing that would any of your brothers friends fancy a fly/drive experience back to Adelaide????

yes, the latter looks more inviting by the minute (not interested in lending the cr to anyone - its $A80,000 plus of car after all).

For anyone in OZ who is interested:

The Max'm height of a car allowed on the train is 194cms. A Disco in access mode with Expo Rack is 209cms. You can take as much as you like in the car - including an additional spare wheel for subsequent mounting on the roof rack for the trip - oh, except you wont have the roof rack will you...... Evil or Very Mad

Max'm height on any truck is 210cm's. Roof rack will just fit. But you cant take the spare or anything else. So, whats the point of the rack right? Mad

Current plan? Car on truck with rack; freight extra spare wheel I just picked up hre in Perth from Barbagallo Tyres (new - $250 Thumbs Up ) (no tyre) to Adelaide; purchase and fit extra GG AT2 tyre in Adelaide. freight recovery gear and other odds and ends; leave all this post trip in Adelaide and freight back when needed (lots of family in Adelaide to leave it all with - possibly drive over at Xmas with 3 weeks in SA then and get it all then - probably best solution.

sigh - planning trips is much harder when work committments (ie limited time off) interupt it all!!!
