Handy hint: check your UK driving licence - if you have the code 01 on your licence then you need to be wearing eyesight correction (i.e. glasses or contacts).
Many people have this on their licence despite never having worn glasses - if you are stopped by a switched on Traffic Cop and they check your licence, if it shows 01 and you haven't got eyesight correction in then you are driving Not in Accordance with your licence and can have your car seized and 3 points. French Police won;'t know but would inconvenience you on the way to the tunnel/ferry if you got stopped Have a quick check - I had it on mine and had to write to DVLA to get it taken off as my eyesight is fine (I have to have it checked regularly at work). Its on the back of you photocard. Tony

Is that in sect 12, Codes? Got 01 in all my cats but can't remember telling anyone that I needed specs/lenses. Would aways have something in to correct vision otherwise wouldn't get very far.
An alternative to the SANEF tag is APRR one, apply to the company direct www.aprr.fr and a bit cheaper than SANEF ISTR but not as convenient as you have to deal with the French website. Either is most excellent for jumping queues and surgical insertion of gear leaver when climbing across to pull the ticket. Is that why the 12MYs have a rotary dial?

Exactly Del - very common! Yes, on the grid on the back of the photocard if it says 01 (the bit marked 17 on the pic below) you need to be wearing eyesight correction.
Tags are great for avoiding queues - Sanef is hardly expensive and considerably less hassle Tony

Ensure that speed cameras are deleted from your Sat Nav as this is now illegal to have, most Sat Nav producers now have a patch/update to delete these.

re breathaiyser tester
Here is a copy from the March edition of the Caravan Club magazine which clarifys the carrying of a breathaylser tester. The CC are usually very accurate in their info and advice.
RECENT REPORTS have suggested that it is now a legal requirement to carry a breathalyser in your vehicle
while driving in France. However, the legal department of the ACF (Automobile Club de France) has confirmed that the law has not changed, and this requirement is currently only a proposal. If the law were to change, the
ACF is unable to confirm at this stage whether it would be applicable to visiting motorists or just French residents. However, if you would like to buy a disposable breathalyser, they are available from most French pharmacies for about one euro.
