I have been looking through the postings on the Traxide plug and play systems and was just wandering what you all thought of it after running it for a few months.
I have a couple of other questions,
Can I buy it in the UK or do I have to go to Traxide in Australia?
Is it as easy to fit as traxide claim? I dont like electickery
Where do you pass the cable through to the rear of the car?
Whats the best battery to use?
Sorry if this has been asked before.

Just drop Tim(Drivesafe) a pm and he will guide you in the right direction. I have the SC40 which is spot on but I wish I'd gone for the SC80. Fitting any of the Traxide kit is a doddle. Club Exped trailer

Whats the advantage of the SC80 then? Higher ampage? If I wanted to fit an inverter to power a lap top and charge a camera would the SC80 be best or would the 40 be ok?

I have the SC40 - and have fitted a small inverter for powering smaller ampage appliances. No issues with laptops, recharging camera batteries etc.
SC80 does have a higher ampage rating, as well as additional cabling for an Anderson socket (IIRC)
Easy to install - very easy. Cables run through a bulk-head grommet; under the plastic door trim; through to and behind the boot side panels. If you split the cabling so you have additional sockets on both sides of the boot space, then a pre-cut length of cable runs under the little flappy thing by the lower boot door.
The supplied instructions are complete, clear, easy and full of photos.
Battery? Common one is Optima Yellow Top
And yes, only from Australia but it arrives very quickly and postage is only incrementally more as Tim has already included local (Australia) shipping in the costs.
Give him a call - he's a very helpful, friendly and knowledgeable person.

Great system easy to install.
Largest battery that will fit the spare spot is an 80 AmpH Varta but it needs some trimming of the bottom flanges. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

Regarding the OP, I did a group buy from Tim, so plenty of people on here with them (and since, many more have bought).
I'd go for the SC-80 as it will cope with most things you want it to do. The Optima Yellow Top D34 battery is the std one that most fit as it copes very well with the power output of the D3 and fits with no mods in the Aux battery space.
Then you just need to decide if you only want 12v sockets to the rear or if you want a more substantial rear connector. So many options!
Buy it from Traxide directly, I don't think they have a UK Disty. Not much electricery to do really, all the instructions come on a CD in PDF form with plenty of pictures to help.
Cable comes through a grommet in the bulkhead and is then roiuted throiugh an available space under some of the trim. Scariest bit is removing the trim for the first time, but that's not really a challenge.
The SC-80 is higher ampage yes. As for the laptop, I would get a 12v laptop adapter rather then an inverter. With the inverter, you go 12 => 240 => back to about 16-20v through the laptops adapter. With something like a Kensington laptop power adapter, you go from 12v => 16-20v (or whatever your laptop requires). Would be far more efficient.
Camera battery charge would be a little different, but again it depends on what batteries. I have a 12v AA/AAA battery charger which works well and was dirt cheap.

For your Anderson of course
You DO have an Anderson, don't you?
Nah, it's just a high-current socket. Most auto sockets max out at 16A, so if you want to run anything more juicy than that you need a more substantial socket/plug I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.
