If you put some wood for the TJ to move on it should work surely?Loving the power of the TDV8!

Did think about that but though the wheels might just sink into the wood. By that time I'd ordered a Takla (which got it's 1st use in anger on Saturday), had the stands and then got the compressor!

You'll need one of the high lift ones, Draper or Sealey do them, but they won't be cheap. They would be quicker than me with my Takla too DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone

My compressor works ok I have some pipe plugs too (haven't tried them yet ) But to whip a trolley jack out has to be quicker.DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone

Probably but there is something nice about watching the air jack do its stuff whilst swigging coffee, none of that manual labour stuff!

Have to admit I didn't fancy the potential aggro of the airjack/bung & thought that a trolley jack would be easier ( & possibly much cheaper) for using at home.
But how much is a suitable compressor for the Takla?

Paul. I have a 2 ton Halfords trolley jack, and its good for the D3. It will lift each corner easily. I have never tried lifting an entire end of the car, as it would probably crack the block paving. Its heavy though, and I prefer the airjack for off-road use.

Try the Clarke CTJ3QLG 3-T. Quick Lift Pro Trolley Jack £82.23inc.VAT
I have tried two Clarke 3 tonne trolley jacks. I found this the best. Heavy but strong and sturdy.
Lifting capacity 3 Tonnes.
High ratio hydraulic operation with combined foot pedal/handle operation and positive twist lock/release mechanism.
Saddle height - Min 145mm, Max 520mm
Safety overload bypass system.
Dimensions (LWH) 633 x 345 x 156 mm
There is a cheaper 3t Clarke one at about £45 but it's no where near as strongly built. It always felt a bit "on the limit" lifting one corner of my D3. The big one lifts a whole side in one go. No problems.

BTW: If you've got a tarmac drive you need to take extra precautions to protect the drive - both from the jack and the tyres when the suspension adjusts itself after... I bu66ered mine up first time I swapped my wheels.

Thanks for all the replies.
gilmorr, I've been looking at the machinemart site. I didn't think that a 520mm lift would be enough, but it obviously is, so I'm tempted by the heavier £ 82.32 Clarke model.

I have the CTJ3000QL (I think DG does too) - with careful use it is OK
