trying again, engine number
Have bought a D4 with a seized engine.
Bought a used engine with an engine number, but no VIN number.
Is it possible to find the year and from which car model the donor engine comes? Maybe also the VIN number of the donor car?
Number is 0902427306DT of donor engine.
My original engine has number. 0538574306DT VIN SALLAAA648A488364. 3.0l TDV6. MY2011
The donor engine is now transplanted and it works!! But still would be fine to know more about it.

I’m reasonably sure your JLR country organization would be able to find it out. Whether they tell it to you or not is another question... GDPR and all that. All this information is available to the JLR techs (and usually NOT the dealers).
Last year when I had some issues with my D4, JLR had trouble writing a piece of paper stating that the vehicle’s odometer had been doctored due to privacy and other concerns. In the end I got screen shots instead of an “official letter” which fortunately were enough to revert the sale.

I am in Sweden and the car is also Swedish.
The donor engine was bought from UK.
I am sure the Swedish JLR workshops are not interested in helping me.
In fact I bought the car cheap from the third owner with a seized engine.
MY 2011 and just 120 000 km on the meter.
The former owner tried 2017 when it happened to get help from JLR Sweden, but they were not interested.
Could you try in UK? Please
I am not interested in who was the owner of the car with the donor engine. Just year and model, maybe VIN to be able to buy the right parts for it.

Only reason I got help from JLR (Finland) was that the Indy I took the D4 for evaluation to was kind enough to facilitate it with someone there who they had a working relationship with (and who specialized in doctored vehicles I think).. I’ve been that Indy’s customer since

A good workshop, better if you re-use the "old" injectors (after a good service)
I see no reason why it should not be suitable, same 306DT series
Stop&Start version has an uprated starter (better for you)
Without donor VIN only LR (not a dealer) can associate the correct engine S/N and car VINDiscovery 5 tdv6 HSE Corris Gray Outback Engineering Limited Edition
IID Pro MV License

Plastic parts often have a date stamp in the mold, might be something on the oil filler cap or elsewhere?

Never got a starter with the new engine. Using the old one. Not interested in Stop/start.
Have used the old injectors and some other small parts from the old engine..
All new belts, filter on the donor engine.
it certainly is a newer engine as the oil returnpipe is in the new location and with no hole on the side in the engine block.
