The Velars about as low to the ground as I would go, I did think I would struggle sitting lower down but so far I’ve adapted pretty well.

I think we’ve hijacked the thread, with a Top Gear style which Range Rovers best for thrashing boy racers test Laughing

No problem with the hijack as I have now moved on from the idea of a D5 so am happy to hear of other experiences. I would be in a RRS in a shot if I did not need a proper third row.

Unfortunately, it was not to be Sad They were short of cars, so I was given a 1700 mile old, 68 plate, D5 SD6. Nothing new to report, but it was interesting to see that, despite it being the very latest V6, check the combined mileage for the first “16,000 mile” oil change:

Not good. That was the death of the D5 for me. If I ever consider one again it would have to be the 2.0, it seems to be trouble free in that respect.

I did receive a survey today asking how I’m getting on with my Discovery, there is one question which asks about 2nd row comfort, nothing for 3rd row though. Also a question about accessories, if there’s one accessory that LR don’t offer but you would like? I just put roof rack Laughing

Looks like a typical dealer who does not bother to apply the updates? Users on the Disco5 forum are reporting the issue is fixed by an update for MY18 onward.

Buying a car is like buying a computer these days, first thing you have to do is bring it up to date with all the outstanding updates! Thumbs Up

Considering it’s a 19MY car (Reg. 31/12/2018), there should be no need to “update it to 18MY software”, as it should have even later software embedded from the factory. Bear in mind that this is about as modern an example as you’d get your hands on and it’s, apparently, still an unfixed issue Sad

I did say MY18 onward, I know it should have the latest software but the experiences of MY18 and MY19 owners are different.

I believe it is N222 that needs to be applied,.

Red Merle, if you hate the car that much, I am sure the dealership would take it back and give you something else, particularly if you told them you were slagging off the curtesy car on line because it was that useless.

Indeed, I would be more worried why my FFRS was in with the dealer so often. Whistle

IIRC, RM drives c.45k miles pa in his FFRR. So it’s a regular visitor to the main dealer for routine servicing as well as the inevitable software updates etc.

The mileage shown depends on a number of factors, the car works out your average mileage in a time period, then displays the remaining mileage to get to the annual service date. If you were to drive 1,000 miles a month and get in the car after 3 months it would show 9,000 miles left to service, not 13,000 as you'd expect.

There's an explanation of this on the disco5 site from user Labbix when he asked the dealer. The dealer went to LR for this answer.
