How many turbo's have failed and at what sort of mileage?

Mine went end of Dec at 118k miles

MacLeod's and KevnT's turbos also went since then.
I'm sure both will catch this thread and provide more detail.

Think it only happens when a hen's tooth gets caught in there, or when you plough through too deep a pile of rocking horse manure. Very Happy

But there'll be someone out there who's blown one, and there must be an advisory time to renew whilst you have your rather unique opportunity Wink

Edit Ooops! Embarassed - I knew I should have sent that off right away! Now it looks like a daily occurrence Shocked - Still a rarity in Great Scheme of Things, though - Yes / No?
2006 D3 finally swapped for a 2016 D4 Graphite in Graphite grey. No mods

There isnt an advisory time/distance for a turbo to let go. If it happens, it happens. If not, then its all good Thumbs Up

On my g/f's car, there have been a lot of people rabbiting on forums about turbo failures at all sorts of mileages, as low as 7-8k. 67k and still on its original turbo

Just remember, you only hear about when there is a fault Thumbs Up

Mine went before I got it! I've just bought a MY05 HSE and it was serviced before I collected, they took it for a test run and noticed it wasn't right, turns out the turbo went! They've sorted a new one so I guess it's good to have it fail now? Rolling Eyes I get it on Tuesday I'm not sleeping I'm sooooooo excited!

Yes, its a good thing. Should hopefully never fail again, the actual turbo has been superceded about 5 or 6 times in 4 years Whistle

On the plus side though, roll on Tuesday and Permagrin Thumbs Up

Ive just bought a brand new turbo to fit to my engine before the body goes back down

I think a new turbo without any cost is probably a good thing, I just hope everything else is ok! I am very excited about Tuesday! I am going from a 1997 Disco 1 to a HSE D3 I think it will be a bit different! I won't sleep on Monday night! Ilove disco3.co.uk!

Blinkin eck, that's good.
The one I sourced was £350 brand new!!!
Thing is, my LR dealer didn't want to fit customer supplied parts.
I would have had no come back re fit, preformance issues and lastly no 12 months guarantee!
So ended up paying £650 for a reconditioned one through them!!!!

I have a friend that builds drag bike engines who does them for me

This turbo was still in the Land Rover box so they couldnt of turned it down as it came from them anyway Whistle
