Very helpful indeed, and a clear insightful answer as well, thank you.

Can I ask what remote controller you opted for in the end?

Good point!

This is the one I had issues with: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/124147753763

This is the one I have now and works as expected (it doesn’t do any form of reset/clearing of faults etc): https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/164703229132

I then paired it with this remote control relay: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/363050462248

@itguy
Do you have dip switches on parking mode? What do they actually do. I bought the same one. Thanks

Yes I think there's a few on here using these as well Thumbs Up

I was wondering about this unit https://lr-fbh.co.uk/product/fbh-controller/

Although pricey, I wonder if it comes with any of the the same issues? I presume it does as when the vehicle awakes and finds the burner running it's going to log a fault. So that being the case the cheaper option might be the better choice.

My dip switch is set to parking mode I believe. I didn’t change it from the default as it came delivered.

I considered buying this one and had a long technical conversation with the designer of that too and it is perfectly ok - no funny coding on it, so just the CANbus conflict “as normal” !

It their manual says
"However, if the FBH is already running when the car started, it will continue to run for remainder of the pre-set time, or until 75 degrees is reached whichever comes first."
No mention regarding any canbus conflict?

@itguy thanks a lot. Let's see what will come out of my project.

Remember that the unit would do what you have said above (run for the pre-set time or until 75c) anyway because you have started it from the w-bus - not because the CAN has taken over control of it...

I’m not saying it won’t work - but just be aware that if you scan for fault codes you might get some but they can be cleared and aren’t serious.

But you said yourself that the FBH will stop working after a few instances when the canbus is woken up during controller working?

Just got a reply from them and they say that it's perfectly fine to start the car when controller initiated the FBH. No faults recorded and no lockouts.
I'm now a bit puzzled.

Yes, but can be unlocked / cleared of faults and start working again though. It will be good to get your feedback and experience on here too when you have had a play so we can build our knowledge together

Perfect - sounds good then. If you buy it, test it and you don’t get any faults recorded then please let us all know as that is very useful, I might end up changing mine then...

Here is the problem. Not really keen on spending another £125 for this when I bought another one.
On the other hand I don't seem how it could be different from the one we've got (except it HAS a jumper insider to clear the faults if they arise). It has only connection to Wbus, not canbus...

Actually, now that I think of it and aside from the W bus controller issues. Do you know if the Webasto Thermo Test 2.16 engineering software will allow a change to the programmed start temp default of 6°?

The issue came up in another thread earlier in the week where the start temp on the D3 is set too low at 6°. I suggested to the OP that you might have some insights as to whether it can be increased to 8° as on the D4 by using the WTT 2.16?

It would be worthwhile if it can be changed!
