Tyre Choice Recommendations for Disco 4 (20")

Hi guys, I just bought a 2015 Disco 4 SDV6 with original 20 inch wheels. The car is currently shod with 255 50 20 Pirelli Verde All Season and I feel that it corners like a Wardrobe on butter. Also has so much body roll! Now I am not asking to be Jenson Button going to the supermarket like a bank robber, but my previous car a modern RRS with 275 45 21 I could pretty much plant into any corner and feel pretty safe at most speeds. This is a massive change. Can anyone tell me whether there is a better tyre size/choice that would improve the Disco 4 handling in their experience? Maybe sthg a bit wider that wont wear too unevenly?! I do very little off roading in the Summer so tend to run Summer Tyres in the Summer months and then Winter Tyres for the winter months when we are more in the fields. Any help much appreciated. Have a gd weekend.

I'm more than happy with 275/45x20 Pirelli All Season, but you might need a wheel change.

It does not however match the handling on my RRS with 275/45x21s.

Either your D4 has suspension/geometry issues or you’re comparing the handling of the D4 too closely to your previous RRS. By the sounds of it I suspect the former.

Those are good “road” tyres in the correct size.

Just in case it helps, I have those exact tyres in same size on my June 2015 D4.
Absolutely no problems at all, and feels very ‘planted’.
Good luck getting it sorted whatever it happens to be.
Cheers

Quite possibly his RRS had dynamic response (active antiroll bars) and the D4 doesn't. If so, the traditional bars on the Disco will deliver more roll. It's not fair to compare the handling. The RRS was designed to be more sporty to drive and so has less roll in the corners.

Sounds to me like the OP's cars are doing as they should.

Thanks guys the RRS did indeed have Dymanic Response. I will just have to keep on rolling!

I’ve driven both the RRS and FFRR with Dynamic Response and it was standard fit on the SDV8 that I currently own.

Having owned several D4’s, three of which came as new with 20” rims shod with Pirelli’s, your D4 shouldn’t roll as badly as you’re describing it does.

Each of us will have our own perception about handling and roll and what is excessive. We might drive the OP's Disco and have different thoughts as to whether it's rolling too much.
