Tyre pressure gauge...heads-up

Little while ago a friend gave me a small electric air compressor. So I decided to buy some hose and some attachments, amongst which was a tyre inflater and gauge combined.
I have used this on all my vehicles ever since.

Just lately I have been noticing the D3 was riding a bit hard, so rechecked the tyres with one of those pencil type gauges. That read an extra EIGHT pounds more than I thought it should.

So I invested in a RaceX tyre pressure gauge.......This confirmed the pencil gauge readings.

All my tyres had been running about eight pounds too much.

So lesson learned, just because its new, don't mean its correct.

Hi Grandadrob
Those guages are rarely correct. I never trust the one on my compressor. I always check with the old fashioned 'pop out' pencil type which I have confidence in and seems to match the reading on the car .

Mind you, just recently pressures seem to vary depending on which day you take them, what with some colder days and some really warm ones.

Cheers
