I’ve had the Ring compressor for a good few years, always kept in the D4 and also useful for inflating air beds when camping.

Can’t fault it, though I never trust the tyre pressure gauges on pumps, I use a designated tyre pressure gauge instead.

I had the Ring one in the D4 that got nicked and haven't replaced it yet, but IIRC the long hose meant you were a long way from the on/off switch for shutting it off when you get to the correct pressure. I'd be looking for one with shorter airhose and longer power cable.

Yeah, mine doesn’t have the squigley hose, but does have a long cable, I’ve even got an extension for it so I can use it further away from the D4 eg wife’s car, air beds in situ in tent.

I suffered similar experience with cheaper options - went for a Durite one (currently on ebay for £62.50) which I have been happy with for a while, of course you'll only need it when for some reason you've taken it out of the vehicle.

I’ve got one like the Ring one shown that I got from Euro a while ago but I hardly use it as has been a bit of a faff switching it off at the right pressure. I’ve got a rechargeable one I got off eBay that you can preset the pressure on works a treat for checking and topping up tyres but might struggle running for a long period.

I’ve seen on FB marketplace that Makita make one that uses the 18volt battery pack for £42.

I had the ring one worked fine for ages but the pressure gauge wasn't to reliable, had to use an old fashioned slide gauge to check. The curly hose split eventually could not get a replacement.

Another vote for Ring
Model number RTC 1000 , you set pressure on digital screen and it stops when it gets there .
Also got a light which has proved useful when trying to find the valve in the dark Thumbs Up

I also now have a ring one with the pre set pressure gauge it came with the car when I bought it. It's very good stops when it reaches the set pressure.
Have checked it with a separate pressure gauge and its spot on.

For tyres I use the pump from my old Touran. It's got an OK pressure gauge, and does the job. Useless for anything else than inflating tyres though, as there is not much airflow, plus it overheats if it's used for more than five minutes.
