I've been very impressed with the AX7s that went on my D4 a couple of years ago.

Not had a lot of snow to play with, but when we have they were just as good as the GGs I've previously used.

They were good on wet slimy slipways last summer, and also on very muddy and wet gravel tracks in the winter.

The real test for me is towing a 3Tn twin axle trailer across a wet grass field, which wasn't a problem.

Road manners have been good, and wear so far appears to be better than the GGs.
Heaven doesn't want me, and hell is afraid I'll take over.

I've been using the Pielli AT+ for a season, on my D3, my tires have been many and very different over time, and I'll be concise now, the AT+ are the best I've had, without a doubt!!

I really liked the AT+ but supply issues meant changing to something else. Very annoyed as the sidewalls appeared to be armour plated compared to the competition.

Yes, I know about this problem and I agree that it can be a big problem, even so I have assumed the risk and I do not regret it!!

These look good, but I don’t know if anyone running them yet:

I might try them next, but my GG AT3’s are on a set of separate rims for the winter months, so will last another 2-3 years I reckon.

I’m back on Verdre All Seasons now.

Currently using 19" GG AT3s and they're very good in all weathers. 3PMSF symbol is good to have.
I used to have Pirelli AT+ which were very similar and I would have stuck with those were it not for the problems in getting hold of them.

Ok, finally made a decision so got the bank card out……

Gone for the Axon AX7’s in the end so blaming Nashers endorsement if they’re the wrong tire Smile

They have better EU ratings than the GG AT3’s and now knowing that they’re the same tread (and probably the same tire) as the Cooper Discoverer ATT (as they’re made by the same company).

They look good, reviews I’ve found hold them in good stead for on and off road performance as well as life span so bit the bullet and ordered a full set of 5 for fitting locally on Friday Smile
£152 per corner for the 255/55/R19’s and managed to get a 10% discount off that.

Thanks for the help guys!

I’ll drop some pickies on once they’re fitted and Dennis is looking good in his new boots Smile

I had AX7s yonks ago. Really liked them. I’d put them on my Defender if they had the right ratings.

Hope you are happy with them. Just please be aware that to the best of my knowledge, the AX7’s don’t have the 3PMSF symbol and are therefor not classifier as winter tires.

There are certain countries (Germany, parts of France, parts of Italy) where they would not be sufficient during the winter period as they are classified at “all weather” and not Winter.

I have the same problem with my Duratracs!!

Didn't the Duratrac used to be 3MPSF rated except for the size used by LR on the Disco (255/55/r19)?

The Duratrac is now one of the POR-classified tyres, isn't it? Do POR tyres get 3MPSF rated?

I have duratracs on my Disco 5 in 255/55R20, and they do NOT have the 3PMSF symbol.

I contacted Goodyear, and they confirmed that in the UK and EU they are NOT 3PMSF rated.

How can I found out if the are POR rated as if they ARE POR rated, then you are correct that they are not required to have the 3PMSF?
