Uk to Holland next week
Hi all,
I need to pop over to holland next week for a few days, so i though i would do the environmentally friendly thing and drive 8)
Ive booked a tunnel for tomorrow and due back on Wednesday.
On the way back, i would like to make use of stocking up on a few bits for Xmas. Specifically some Belgian beers, and some french wine & cheese.
Can anyone recommend where i should stop?
Auchan Grande Synthe seems to have been mentioned before as a good option on the way to the tunnel, and possibly cheaper and quieter than Carrefour next to the tunnel. Do they sell Belgian beers in there, or would i be better stopping somewhere in Belgium?
Will also need diesel and from looking online, Holland seems cheapest to top up?
Cheers

Why not go into one of the towns you pass and buy locally? You might be surprised what you find. I was in Stockholm last week and got some really interesting stocking fillers in the local shops. I'm in Milan and Bresica this week so will do the same when there.

I agree with Moo. Support your local independent, supermarkets are supermarkets.
Our local independent wineshop has closed so yesterday drove 20 miles to another passing several supermarkets on the way. Range of wines much larger, information from shop keeper 100 x better than a supermarket. He is in danger of closing due to supermarkets and inter net shopping.
We get regular supplies of local award winning German sausages from a German friend/supplier/customer who travels 25km to a local farmer/butcher who has limited opening hours. Sausages are top notch and it supports a local company.
Ask whoever you are going to see in the Netherlands for recommendations or use the internet
