Unusual Gearbox fault

Hello everyone,

I have been experiencing some unusual symptoms today, and wondered if anyone might have had something similar.

It started with a Failure warning and being stuck in 4th gear. This cleared after a restart, and iid showed it as "incorrect ratio selected". It has not recurred.

However now, whenever I decelerate the revs "bounce" up and down in every gear, regardless of whether these are up or down shifts.

Everything appears Normal when cruising or accelerating, and the box changes up cleanly. There are none of the fluctuations normally associated with TC issues.

Has anyone had this before, and what might I be dealing with?

Thanks

MW

Had the car assessed by a specialist today. Diagnosed with failing torque converter and also the clutch on 4,5 and 6.

Quote is more than the car is worth, so will be listing it for spares or repairs when I get home.

They did say it should get us home if driven gently so that's something.

TC will cost around £750 but a recon box will be well over £2k. If you had the facilities clutch kits are available to DIY and it's not the biggest a job on one of these!

If its a sound car with no rust someone might take it on or have the spares to sort it.
