Update:
Have gone through my insurance company as the repar was in the region of £1500.00. I gave them all the details of the incident and informed them that the whole sorry tale was captured on my BV - once he had stopped laughing  he offered me the option of either going through the insurance company (and having to pay the excess and then claim it back and this will show as a claim) or go through a claims management company affiliated to the insurance company. They guaranteed to sort everything and I will not have to pay a penny. They offered this as they believed that due to the BV evidence this would be a guaranteed win for them end even if it isn't they are covered against this.
I looked at the small print and everything seemed in order.
They arranged for the D3 to be collected from my home at a time of my choosing and 30 mins before it was collected a hire car was dropped off. They informed me that it would be a similar category 7 seat 4x4 - I was hoping for a D4  .
A Volvo XC90 - are they having a f g laugh or what!!!!!!!!! My protestations on the merits of a D3/D4 compared to a AWD estate car were lost on the poor lady on the other end of the phone.

Thats great to hear. I must finally fit one to mine. I have a korean version fitted as was sat on shelf - not good enough or pretty enough to sell - but its not wired up to permanent live.
I have 25 in stock with gps and 3 none gps (as most go for gps i wont stock none gps going forward unless anyone asks)

So teh hids4U one is £150 and this one is £30. Granted there's a considerable difference in size, but other than that, what's the advantage of the more costly one (ignoring the GPS thing, which seems to be causing more problems if other reviews are to be believed)?
Please enlighten me as am interested in something like this. The £150 ones seem to be a lot more than other kit on the market.
Anyone??!

I looked at one of the 7dayshop ones, but goggled some reviews and the issue with it was apparently it divides the files into blocks for some reason, and every few minutes the system loses 2-3 seconds of recording as it creates a new block.
Only a problem if the miscreant sprinter hits you in those few seconds........
Worth googling a review of it first. Tony

The main differences are always quality of the picture due to the type of lens and processors used plus the user interface software. Add on top of that the style and the bulk of the cheaper chinese version. i have nothing against good quality chinese products and indeed many products made by philips osram and everyone comes from china. but these are quality factories making to quality designs and standards. most of the crap you see is from a small factory that simply assemble things bought elsewhere and using the cheapest things with no quality and consistency. LEDs HIDS and cameras are great example of how it goes wrong. i have been to china and visited the factories and tested 100s of items that i refuse to sell. i have a garage full of crap.
The blackvue is the smallest most subtle unit i have seen and the images are good day and night. a good sony ccd lense costs more than 30 pounds to buy
i dont hink it was the gps that caused the issues - it was mainly an issue of the SD card that needed to be reformatted.

16Gb card using 20FPS and high quality lasts about 4 days or so, depending on how much driving you do and settings.
Once full, it over writes the earliest recording - again, depends on settings. Mark.

Character , fitting is the easy part, stik it to front and/or rear window connect it to live feed, dealing with the software, there's the challenge, best to buy 2 camera's( front and rear), biggest memory card you can afford! Job done A few mods... and keeping it all running...Faultmate MSV2
