UPDATE: Blackvue captures hit and run driver!
Blackvue to the rescue, popped out with the misses in her car, return 30 mins later to find that some muppet had hit my D3 and driven off.....
Checked the BV and it did indeed capture the dastardly deed - a local man in his white van. At present we are sorting it out like gentlemen... but watch this space.

I modified my installation last Sunday so that it can be switched between either contact 12V, permanent 12V or turned off (using a 3 position switch in the roof lamp console).
I'm just going to leave it permanently on and turn off the motion detection completely (way too sensitive even on the lowest possible setting). I've set the sensors to high sensitivity during Parking Mode and having checked it by slightly rocking the D3 and even closing a door it triggers an event and records it fine. 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE AutoBuckingham Blue 2007 Golf GT DSG

That's a result then, makes me think about powering mine full time too, at least it should get rid of those "SD card not fitted" messages that occur all too frequently after a "pit stop".Clive

I fitted a class 10 SD card, haven't had another "card not fitted" message since.
