As some of you will know from other posts, when the 2006MY replaced the 2005MY Land Rover played around with some of the trim levels. In my case, a lowly 'S' model, they deleted the Bi-Xenon headlights to replace it with the bright pack (auto lights, fog lights etc.). Anyway, whilst browsing eBay I came across a single Bi-Xenon light for sale, so I got thinking - would Land Rover use a different wiring harness for the halogen lights compared to the xenon's? Luckily I have a friend who is process engineer at Solihull and she confirmed they were the same harnesses. So, £45 later, I have a single xenon headlamp assembly. I plug it in and to my delight it works! But of course this leaves me with one halogen and one xenon headlamp. Out of interest I ask at my local dealer about the cost of a new headlamp assembly - £440! Now, this would have been against the principal of my cheap upgrade, so I flick through the back of the LR magazines looking for breakers who might have a D3 in. The fourth one I try has a headlamp for £40 + postage. The upshot being I now have xenons for approximately £100.
Just thought I'd share this as someone else may want to do the same?
Oh, and if anyone wants a pair of halogen headlights just let me know...

Sell the old pair on eBay- you'll no doubt get good money for these, as everything seems to be going for big money now. Discovery 3 tdv6 7 seat Buckingham Blue

Well done! One thing to make sure is that they self-level correctly as it's a legal requirement that they do so.
I know there is a problem retrofitting Xenons onto the new MINI because halogen headlamp-equipped cars don't have the self levelling equipment installed.
However if they're working, dipping and levelling correctly then well done 8) 06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti

The xenon lights are not necassarily adaptive, the LR spec lists them as seperate entities, although you do need the xenon's to have the adaptive pack

Assuming you've got air-suspension (which you have on the S) they should self level. As far as I can workout they are in a fixed position and self level with the car. Only coil sprung base models have a manual headlight level adjustment The End

Aaaahh... if you try and add the Bi-Xenons to the Base D3 it wants you to add the air suspension, so therefore any D3 with air suspension should be able to support the Xenons in theory 8) 06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti

Aren't the adaptive xenons the corner turning ones? 06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti

Either way, you will still need to ensure that they are properly calibrated once installed.

Most definitely. I have them booked in for exactly that.
And as Slimer says as the car is self-levelling with the air suspension then the lights are by default.
Oh and mine are just the standard xenons, not the adaptive ones...
On a seperate point; does anyone know what the extra wiring coming from the sidelight is. These wires go to another bulb holder which in turn goes into the amber area near the indicator. These bulb holders on both my sets of lights are empty - my only thought is they could be marker lights which I think are required in the US and therefore are left empty for the UK/Europe?

Cornering lights, I think.
On the adaptive headlights, if you had bought those you'd be needing the ECU to control them too......

That was my first thought but when you have a good look you can see where the cornering lights would go. These are actually in the amber/indicator part of the light and would therefore shine amber...

US (at least) sidelights - think the NA vehicles have a permanent amber light from memory (dimmer than the indicator)
