Upper tailgate syndrome.
Hey guys,
Hope you're all well in this madness.
I know this has been covered before but I have to nip out to the tip and could do with a quick reply.
FEEL FREE TO DELETE THIS THREAD ONCE DONE.
Upper tailgate won't open it makes the mechanical noise like it should but there is no 'popping open' of the boot. Tried the lock / unlock trick. Same sound. No open.
Does this mean the cable is loose and do I just need to remove the carpet and give the cable a tug or could it be something else?
Thanks all and much love and peace to you and your families
Danny

Sounds just like you all the signs of needing to remove the cover and pull the cable
There is another post about getting a Ford solenoid for £12 and replace on your unit. Welsh Collie Chauffeur Service To Barney & Rooney.

Hey guys, sorry to bring this back up. Just a quick question. Wanted to see if I could fix this myself without needing a mechanic.
Once I've managed to get the door open, what would I need to do to fix the problem?
Can a man with basic skills be able to crack this off?
Thanks
Danny

There are quite a few posts on here about replacing the actuator for the tali gate.
Use the search function It's a relatively simple job, should take about 45 minutes Uncle Ray's spare wheel protector

Blackvue front & rear dashcam
Cruise control switch pack

Hello mate,
Yes, there are lots of posts on this but as my actuator isn't broken (it makes the sound as if its working), I'm guessing the cable has unclipped itself from the actuator.
If so, does it just clip on or do I need to solder/attach/replace anything?

It just clips in.
Mine was making all the noise as if to be working, BUT the actuator had failed and was not moving far enough to be able to release the catch.
New actuator fixed it. Still sounds the same, but now the boot opens.

OK, cool. Thanks Jamez. I'll give the clip ago and if it doesn't work I'll go Plan B and order the unit.
Hope everyone is comfy and safe 8)

Hey all, forgot to update that I managed to fix the issue with some cable ties. Followed the instructions from this video and it's never felt so good to have a working boot!
