why do any of us use forums

As they just add to the fear and intrepidation of our purchases - just look at this forum as an example Shocked . Who'd buy a D3 or D4 after being on here Whistle

This time its our new Elddis 'van - I now have the delivery date, 9th March, and then in reading 1 or 2 caravan forums start picking up build quality issues with Elddis (Explorer Group) 'vans. Just hope ours isnt a friday afternnon build.

I guess it was the same when we brough our Bailey back in 2012. Loads of commentry at the time about Alutec build.

Fingers crossed.

I actually think they give us the courage to jump in.
No longer are you at the mercy of the thieving hands of garages who used to rip owners off as lets be honest we would have in the past accepted their word as being gospel.

I agree with Sea Raider
When I first went to view my D3 I was able to go along having read a shed load of threads, identify some issues and have them rectified before buying the car. Saved me a massive chunk of money. It also armed me with the knowledge of what to just walk away from Thumbs Up

Knowledge is power!

I bought an Elddis and then found out the hard way. All fixed now, but no thanks to Elddis or Glossop Caravans.

Ps. Get you Elddis serviced very promptly when it’s due, book it in early enough so that you can get it into the workshop in good time, as the inability of the dealer to service it in time because they are busy is no excuse! Warranty void!!! 😡

If I had read forums I would have known and booked it’s first service as soon as I had picked it up!

Interesting. I know of two others who have purchased new Explorer group vans from Glossop in the last 18 months and both have been totally unimpressed with them as a dealer.

Whilst both were issues with the vans from new ie warranty it was Glossop's inability to resolve and pretenacy to tell pork pies that caused most of the heartache.

OK, good points, maybe me must being paraniod Shocked

On the service date booking I am planning on using a local Elddis approved service center thats much closer to me than the supplying dealer (Preston), but will get a date booked for 2019 asap.

Thanks

Sleep easy, because mine is a 2014 Affinity, with the rubbish tv system, and the rear panel that cracks if you so much as breathe on it!

I believe the later versions have gone back to a more traditional tv system, and the rear panel is different.

Also had a leaky roof light.

I purchased my D3 before finding this forum Big Cry

If had been the other way round I would have either steered clear away from that one, or found all the issues when viewing and paid less for it.

Having said all of that, this forum then helped me turn it into a cracking car (With of course the help of £'s Laughing ) Thumbs Up

I've found forums invaluable in finding solutions to problems which often dealers deny or claim to be unaware of - agree knowledge is power Thumbs Up

Fingers crossed for your elddis AC- I wasn't so lucky with them and if you've read caravantalk you've probably seen my posts Embarassed

They've been bought by Hymer since my woes so may have improved but as said make sure you keep services etc up to date or they'll wriggle out of everything Rolling Eyes

I think me being paraniod is build quality on UK caravans is even more dubious than that delivered by LR Rolling with laughter , and by luck all our previous 'vans have been good, so I guess I'm hoping it isnt my turn for a duffer.
