A few USA roadtrip pics from the last year - and au revoir..
Well, the day has finally come....
After 13 years of LR3 / LR4 ownership, 250k+ miles and a few calendar covers I sold my 2013 LR4 at the weekend.
I still have my 1980 series (and 2001 Jag) but for a daily driver 10 years old is my limit. Time for a change.
We’ve bought a new Tesla model Y performance. Price cut and tax rebate here made it a pretty compelling purchase for our circumstances right now. It’s really rather impressive - and bloody fast! It might not be everyone’s cup of tea on here but I’m very happy with it. Over the last couple of years most of our mileage been freeway miles from Utah to our homes in Arizona - we’ll stop to charge in exactly the same spots we currently do for gas.
I’ll miss driving past a trail or dirt road and just going for an explore (which always led to much rolling of eyes from her indoors ), but I’m balancing that against maintenance and gas costs. We may go for a new Defender in a year or two, we'll see.
Anyway here’s a few pics from the last year:
And here's a final one from me for now. Thanks to Martin, the Admins and all members. See you down the road

U still doing RTs in the Y. And hopefully just au revoir to the D4, not us!
Only got it two weeks ago so no road-trips yet! But yes, we’ll be using it for them. Time will tell how that goes. Off to Vegas in a month to see Sting, so first long drive.
I’ll still be checking in every now and again '80 109 Stage 1 V8 - still going strong!

He'll have plenty of time for road trip pics with the Tesla.
Has to stop every few hundred miles for an hour to recharge the car.
I wonder how photogenic a location Tesla choose for the charging stations?A visitor from the dark side, my other vehicle is an is still an EV. Strictly speaking its SWMBO.

Thanks for the photos, I’ve been seriously impressed with them. Good luck with the new car.
It’s a bit like the end of a wedding reception on the forum, plenty once upon a time, but as the night wore on, one or two lingered, but a lot went home!

Always admired and had high-level jealousy of your access to what we can only dream of in S Ville UK. Don't have to feel you have to leave.21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Wonderful photos, as ever, and thanks for sharing. Long may you continue to do so.
At least you’ll still have a Land Rover, but I’ll be surprised if like me you don’t miss still having an LR3/4.
You’ll have fun in the Tesla though. 2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

I’m in no doubt there will be occasions I miss the landy. They really are great cars.
I do have a hankering for a new defender, but you never know - could by a cybertruck next…'80 109 Stage 1 V8 - still going strong!
