USB 5V to power phone
Just mounted a Brodit on the right side of steering wheel (LHD). Plan is to run the IIDTool, Spotify, Provide Google Maps and provide a hotspot etc. However, I need 5 V for charging and wonder if anyone know where I can fetch that somewhere close. I am also in the process of installing a D34 extra battery. Maybe it would make sense to tap the 5 V from that, but a bit unsure at this moment. I think I will start with tapping into some 5 V that turns off when ignition is off. Tried to do a search, but did not find anything specific. Also a bit unsure how it is best to run the wire, so if anyone have a suggestion that is greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

As far as I know the car doesn’t do 5v, best route would be a ciggie lighter adaptor.
Very easy to fit and piggybacked on the fuse for the centre console cooler which i dont have but is ignition switched and rated 10A (I think its fuse 16 behind the glove box)
For other potential feed positions look at this post (its what i used!)

Thanks! Will go with something like this. How did you get behind the panel? Drilled a hole for the cable?

Hi
Hope u don’t mind me saying @flagre , it says in the iid manual , not to leave the iid plugged in when driving for a prolonged period of time
Yes, indeed. Thanks for pointing this out. I have seen posts related to this that claim it is in fact not a problem, except you hitting it (have a 90 deg cable) and battery drain if not disconnected when you leave. Would love additional details on this as I find it rather convenient to have it in there all the time.

I just read your post again - i have the Brodit mount for the centre console not up near the dash so have not routed a cable up there.
I do find something like the link below helps pull the cables through though.
If I get a chance I will look for a route and let you know.
